What's that?...simply put, shareware is software that you can download and evaluate free ...usually for a certain length of time.   Do I have to register and pay for shareware? ...yes, once the trial period is up (usually 30 days) you should then purchase the software if you continue to use it. If you do not pay for it after the evaulation period has ended, the program and/or some of its features may become disabled etc.   What is Freeware? ...true freeware is free to use for an unlimited time. No ad banners running, no usage limits, etc.   What is Adware? ...adware has advertising banners for other products or services built into it. You should carefully read agreements before installation to see if you consider a particular software Adware or Spyware.   What is Spyware? ...many Adware softwares place components on your computer during installation that allow companies and/or individuals to access your hard drive or spy on your surfing habits. Once again, be aware of agreements, privacy policies etc. before you install if you have privacy concerns.   What is Postcardware? ...all the author wants is for you to send them a postcard as the price of using the software!   What is Donationware? ...payment for the software is completely optional.   What is Crippleware? ...some of the features are limited or 'crippled' until you register the software.   What is Nagware? ...a popup screen will keep nagging and prompting you to register the software. If that annoys you, you can eliminate the popup screen by registering the software.   What is Trialware? ...mostly commercial software.
